Terms
Terms of Service
Effective May 23, 2026
The short version
Compa is a Chrome extension that walks you through web apps. Use it for things it's meant for, don't try to break it, pay the Pro price if you're on Pro, and we'll all be fine. Cancel anytime. We're not liable for huge cosmic consequences of a tutorial step.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Compa Chrome extension, the compa.fyi website, and any related services (together, the "Service") provided by Jesus Aguilera ("Compa," "we," "us"). By installing the extension or signing in, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What Compa does
Compa is a browser extension that generates step-by-step tutorials for whatever you're trying to do on the web, with optional voice narration. It uses third-party AI services (Google Gemini) to generate tutorial content and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech for voice. We describe what we collect and how we process it in our Privacy Policy.
3. Your account
To use Compa you need to sign in with an email address. We send you a 6-digit code via magic link; no passwords. You're responsible for:
- Keeping your email account secure (since access to it = access to Compa).
- The accuracy of any info you provide.
- Activity that happens under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Compa.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Compa to:
- Break the law, infringe someone's intellectual property, or harass anyone.
- Try to extract, reverse-engineer, or scrape the AI models behind Compa.
- Generate content that violates Google's Generative AI Use Policy (since that's the engine behind the tutorials).
- Probe, scan, or attempt to disrupt our infrastructure.
- Use Compa in any way that's deceptive, fraudulent, or harmful to others.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
5. Free and Pro plans
Free
The Free plan includes 3 complete tutorials per rolling 7-day period. Free use doesn't expire and doesn't require payment info.
Pro
Pro costs $5 per month USD and includes unlimited tutorials. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card details. Your Pro subscription:
- Renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Is non-refundable for the current billing period. If you cancel, you keep Pro access through the end of the period you've already paid for, and we don't bill you again.
- You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from the extension. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We may change Pro pricing in the future. If we do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies to your subscription.
6. Service availability
We do our best to keep Compa running, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. The Service depends on third parties (Supabase, Google, Stripe), and outages on their end can affect Compa. We won't be liable for downtime, lost work, or any inability to access the Service.
7. AI-generated content
Tutorials are generated by an AI model (Google Gemini). AI can be wrong, outdated, or weirdly confident about things that aren't true. Always use your judgment, especially for anything that touches money, security, legal stuff, or your data. Compa is a guide, not an authority.
8. Intellectual property
What you own
You own everything you input into Compa (your queries, the screenshots Compa captures from your browser, your feedback). By using Compa, you grant us a limited license to process that content as needed to deliver the Service and improve it in aggregate. We don't claim ownership over your inputs.
What we own
The Compa extension, the compa.fyi website, our branding, and the platform code are owned by us. You get a personal, non-transferable license to use the Service while these Terms are in effect. You don't get any rights to redistribute, sublicense, or build competing products with our code.
AI outputs
The generated tutorials themselves are yours to use however you want.
9. Third-party services
Compa relies on third-party services (Supabase, Google Cloud, Stripe) that have their own terms. By using Compa, you're indirectly accepting those terms for the parts that touch you. Links to each are in our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any tutorial will produce a specific outcome.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jesus Aguilera will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
12. Termination
You can stop using Compa anytime by uninstalling the extension. To delete your account and associated data, email us at hello@compa.fyi. To cancel a Pro subscription specifically, use the Stripe billing portal as described in Section 5. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate without cause, we'll refund any unused portion of a paid Pro period.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll email registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the change date means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us can pursue small-claims disputes in our local jurisdiction.
15. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between us.
- Severability: If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: If we don't enforce a right, that doesn't mean we've waived it.
- Assignment: We can assign these Terms to a successor (e.g., acquisition); you can't assign them without our consent.
